Classes are lecture style and tutorials are held for discussion of lecture material. Students generally spend about 8 classroom hours per week which requires more independent reading and research than the US system. The main form of assessment is usually a written exam at the end of the semester. This method of teaching places a greater responsibility on the student to study outside the classroom and keep up with the material.

Study abroad students take regular university courses with their Leicester counterparts. UB students are required to take 60 units per semester (usually 3 to 6 courses) in order to earn full UB credit. Courses can count for major, minor and general education credit with approval from your department.
